Sweethearts, a new hospitality venue in Darwin, Australia, revitalises the old Darwin cinema. It offers a unique blend of small to mid-sized function spaces including a large restaurant, bar, and a nightclub with live music every night, all curated by The Cinema Collective.
Designed by Schapel Interiors , and in collaboration with Ashford Lamaya Architects, Sweethearts' design seamlessly blends modern, earthy, and moody elements with an industrial edge.
Zintra materials play a crucial role in creating a dynamic atmosphere, preserving the venue's vibrant energy while ensuring an acoustically balanced space for both patrons and performers. As a nightlife and music hub, the design places a strong emphasis on acoustics, incorporating innovative sound management solutions to enhance the experience.
The space features:
- Zintra 12mm Plain Panels in Tar were installed on the ceilings and select doors to blackout the space and absorb sound
- Above the bar, Zintra Beams Closed Rafters help reduce noise from the lively environment, ensuring a more comfortable acoustic experience
- Zintra Sticks Wide in Spotted Gum timber were strategically placed near the kitchen and ordering area to control sound and minimise disruptions in this high-traffic zone.
