At the Aubamar Palma Resort in Mallorca, the convention centre is defined by a spectacular sculptural ceiling that brings together acoustic performance, material warmth and architectural impact.
Designed by Estudio Felip Polar, the space features a custom Zintra baffle system, specified in a bespoke wood print developed to closely complement the laminated timber finishes used throughout the surrounding walls. Flowing across the ceiling in sweeping, organic contours, the baffles create a remarkable sense of movement while providing an integrated acoustic solution for the large gathering space.
The acoustic impact is equally impressive. Following the installation of Zintra, reverberation time was reduced from 3.64 seconds to 1.08 seconds, significantly improving the acoustic performance of the space.
The result is a ceiling where acoustic performance and architectural expression work seamlessly together - reinforcing Felip Polar's considered approach to light, material honesty and timeless interior design.
